We are seeking a compassionate and skilled full-time Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team. Job responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Director of Nursing (DON) with overseeing and managing all aspects of nursing operations
- Assuming duties of DON in her absence
- Assisting with supervising, directing, training, and evaluating performance of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
- Scheduling, supervising, and making daily assignments for CNAs
- Supervising and assisting treatment nurse as needed in the management of wounds
- Monitoring and posting daily staffing hours to ensure adequate coverage as per regulations
- Assisting with admissions, transfers, returns, and discharges
- Reviewing and tracking incident reports
- Assisting with investigations and SIMS reporting
- Serving as part of the Quality Assurance (QA) team and leading QA meetings in the DON’s absence
- Assisting the DON with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Functioning as Infection Preventionist
- Providing and documenting basic resident care as needed while ensuring our residents’ comfort and dignity
- Monitoring residents’ physical and mental conditions and reporting any changes to the healthcare team
- Documenting resident conditions and behaviors, collaborating with our team of CNAs, nurses, and providers to develop resident care plans
- Providing education and emotional support to our residents and their families
- Responding to emergency situations promptly
- Participating in ongoing education and training to maintain current nursing knowledge and skills
- Conducting monthly nursing meetings along with DON
- Ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and facility policies
- Acting as a team player to support the overall functioning and success of the nursing home
Qualifications and skills include:
- Valid Louisiana RN license
- At least 2 full years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care with leadership and management experience preferred
- Knowledge of long-term care regulations and protocols
- Leadership skills with ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, residents, and families
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to enhance resident satisfaction
- Compassionate care approach to support the comfort and dignity of residents
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) system
- Infection Control Preventionist Certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
